Cutting Data: Milling
Cutting Data: Milling
Determines cutting speed, spindle speed, tooth feed, feed rate, and material removal rate for milling from material, tool, and engagement.
How to use the result
The initial values come from the material-database range. Roughing uses the lower cutting speed and upper feed; finishing uses the reverse. Feed per tooth is scaled for the tool diameter because the database is based on a 10 mm cutter.
When radial engagement is less than half the diameter, the chip is thinner than feed per tooth suggests. Compensation increases feed until the maximum chip thickness again equals the catalogue value. At very low engagement, the factor rises sharply; tool and machine limits then govern.
Check the result afterwards using cutting force and drive power, particularly at a large depth of cut.
