Cutting Data: Drilling
Cutting Data: Drilling
Determines spindle speed, feed, material removal rate, and drilling time for twist drilling, optionally with torque, power, and axial force.
How to use the result
The database values apply to coated solid-carbide drills with internal coolant supply. For HSS drills, cutting speed is reduced to about one third. Without internal coolant and for deep holes, reduce feed and cutting speed further.
Feed applies to the drill diameter and is scaled from the value for 10 mm. This is an approximation; catalogue values from the drill manufacturer are more accurate.
Holes deeper than about five times their diameter require pecking or internal coolant; otherwise chips may jam the drill.
