Material Removal Rate
Material Removal Rate
Calculates material removal rate for milling, turning, and drilling, the required power, and MRR per kilowatt.
How to use the result
Material removal rate is the key metric for roughing operations: it states how quickly material is removed. At equal power, materials differ substantially: steel requires roughly two to three times the power per unit volume removed as aluminium.
The thinner the chip, the higher the specific cutting force and the less volume the machine can remove per kilowatt. A larger feed or feed per tooth therefore increases Q and also improves material removal per kW.
