Cutting Data: Turning
Cutting Data: Turning
Determines spindle speed, feed, material removal rate, and cutting time per pass for longitudinal turning from material, diameter, and feed.
How to use the result
The database values apply to coated carbide indexable inserts. Roughing uses the lower cutting speed and upper feed; finishing uses the reverse.
During facing and parting off, the diameter decreases. Use constant cutting speed (G96) with a spindle-speed limit.
When finishing, insert nose radius determines the achievable surface finish: feed should be substantially smaller than the nose radius. Use the surface-finish calculator to calculate roughness.
