Work preparation for CNC quotes
A drawing becomes a usable costing basis once the material, stock, setups and operations have been checked. Keep source documents, confirmed information and planned operations together in the quote.
Start with the approved drawing revision
Check the drawing number, revision, quantity and scope of supply. Review material, tolerances, threads and surface requirements. The optional AI analysis provides evidence-linked suggestions; an unreadable value remains an open question.
Review stock and the manufacturing sequence together
Select suitable stock with machining allowances. Arrange operations in their actual order, including reclamping, deburring and inspection. Use your own machines, times and rates; suggested operations require technical review.
Resolve questions before releasing the price
Tasks, questions and approvals remain with the quote. A version records the reviewed state. This planning supports the quote; toolpaths, collision checks and NC program approval still belong to your manufacturing process.
Frequently asked questions
Does work preparation produce a finished NC program?
No. Cost planning describes operations, times and resources. It does not establish an approved NC program or a CAM simulation.
Can I enter my own times?
Yes. Use measured times or a justified plan. Keep setup time per batch separate from machining time per part.
